Native is a line of consumer hardware products including smart RO water purifiers and smart door locks by Urban Company. These products are built completely from ground-up after extensive research, rigorous testing with the end users in mind. 

We launched our Native RO water purifiers M1 & M2 in September 2023 along with our smart door locks. Both our ROs and Door locks are available on the Urban Company app as well as on Amazon & Flipkart.

In this post, I'm going to cover just 2 things — who are we looking for with what kind of skills & what kind of work can you expect over this 6-months of internship. At the end, I've also included answers to commonly asked questions.

Who & what

• We're looking for someone who's tremendously curious. Not just curious but also knows how to hustle their way to find answers or solutions.

• You should be extremely self-motivated and hungry to do great, world-class quality work

• You should be great with Photoshop and I don't mean how to just use the basics of the tool. I mean really great with photo-manipulation, editing, grading, etc.

• You should also be great with Illustrator and be able to put together a complex illustration, graphics, mock-up without any trouble.

• You should have a portfolio that demonstrates the above. Remember, we're looking for core graphic design, infographics work with highest quality of taste.

• We are not looking for vanilla concept brand creation work in your portfolio. We are also not looking for UI/UX work.

• Great presentation designs, infographics design, CGI or motion videos should excite you.

• We also expect you to be an Apple content (or equivalent) fan. Basically, you should have great taste in design and quality of work.

What is the work

• You'll help me create detailed 300-400 pager product books (like this or this)

• Killer infographics (exploded views with BoMs) to explain product parts (like this)

• Complex concepts to simple explainers using static images or simple animations (like in this or this)

• Help in creating work in progress/ process videos (like these)

• Create simplified explainers of how our machines work (like this) (and this)

• Framer websites for Native or Internal wiki (like this or this)

This is not a remote opportunity. This role from our head office in Koramangala, Bengaluru. If you are currently outside Bengaluru, we'll help you with the location and stay options.

You'll work directly with me for 6-months. Occasionally, you'll work with folks in the Native business R&D team, product & content designers, industrial designers to get help on your work deliverables.

You'll have access to the NATIVE R&D Lab, tons of books and premium online resources to help do your job. I'll be hands-on with you throughout this tenure.

You'll work on all things Native — RO water purifiers as well as Smart door locks.

You'll get a laptop from office and initial few days of accommodation.

This role may convert into a full-time opportunity basis your work performance and our requirements 6-months from now.
